When K9 Buddies was formed in 2009 we grew quickly and bought a new Van a lovely bright red one and we were looking for a dog to represent us as we decided to wrap the van to advertise the business. Jason worked in my office and showed me the photo of Misty and that was it straight away we wanted Misty on our van!
Misty was a cross breed, half Whippet and half Spaniel. Body of a Whippet, colouring of a Spaniel and the intelligence of a houseplant apparently!
Jason found her in the Birmingham Dog’s home 1998….”I’d like to say we chose her but she actually chose us. A terrified little thing she came over to the bars on the cage desperate for some contact, we could hardly leave her there. I think she may have been abandoned as whilst perfectly happy to be left at home, she would howl like a mad thing if you left her outside the shop and disappeared from view.”
“The picture on the van was taken in August 2008 on one of her “Best days ever!” meaning pretty much any day she got to run around in fields, go swimming and get lots of attention. We had just fished her out of the water somewhere in the Waseley Hills area and from the look on her face, she wanted to know what we were doing next.”
“Misty passed in 2013 and whilst the rest of the family wanted another dog I still wasn’t ready, after a morning searching some of the local rescue centres we hadn’t found anything that had changed my mind. We decided to stop off for a pub lunch at an out of the way place we knew and there was only one other vehicle on the car park the K9 Buddies van with a very familiar face staring back at us. That made my mind up…….we were ready for another dog and we found Tinker a lovely Greyhound who is delightful and it’s nice to think Misty is still racing around the country lanes and villages with K9 Buddies!”
